Standards of security
Having peace of mind that you office premises is protected by buildings insurance, the equipment by your contents insurance and staff by employers liability insurance is great, but that's no reason to be complacent.
Insurance for offices is governed by minimum standards of security which needs to be adhered to. When your office insurance cover is set up you will receive policy wording that details how you security your office. Each insurer varies but a sample of items that would be affected are listed below:
- Final exit door of the Office is to be fitted with a mortise deadlock
- Aluminium or UPVC framed doors are to be fitted with integral cylinder key operated mortise deadlocks
- All opening external basement, ground floor and other accessible windows need to be fitted with key operated window locks
- Electrical equipment with an individual replacement value of £2,500 or greater must be securely anchored to the desk workstation or to the structure
